Clare Davison, RM PhD

I have an interest in research in vaginal breech birth and I am actively involved in current research into vaginal breech birth as part of the Breech without Borders Video Analysis team. I also organised the BWB team to attend Perth to facilitate workshops with my colleague Kathleen Johnson in 2022.

I am also committed to supporting women with a breech presentation to be able to birth vaginally and I am competent and experienced in supporting breech birth in both the hospital and homebirth setting. I also provide mentorship and training to midwives in private practice attending homebirths and provide upright breech clinical skills education in hospitals.

I am currently writing the 3rd edition of the Australian edition of Skills for Midwifery Practice and will be including a skills for supporting vaginal birth chapter for the first time.

I am working with Dr Sara Morris to plan and implement the first midwifery led breech clinic in Australia led my Dr Sara Morris. This Australian first has been many years in the planning! The clinic will provide holistic midwifery care to women with a breech presentation and care will include a workforce with expert clinical skills. Within this plan we also plan to develop a breech specific mentorship in the clinic to provide supported learning/upskilling opportunities for clinicians and long-term sustainability for breech birth skills in healthcare.
