Hawa's Hope

Hawa's Hope and Breech Without Borders are natural partners in the global effort to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality.

Hawa's Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ending preventable maternal and newborn deaths in Sierra Leone—a country with one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world. Hawa's Hope focuses on clinical education, mentorship, and local capacity building.

By partnering directly with midwifery schools and local hospitals, Hawa's Hope provides hands-on emergency obstetric training and high-fidelity simulation. Their mission is to empower local health professionals with the skills, confidence, and resources they need to ensure safer birth.

A partnership with Breech Without Borders directly enhances Hawa's Hope's mission by adding additional educational resources and education to reduce complications with breech delivery. In resource-limited settings like Sierra Leone, surgical intervention (C-section) is not always an immediate option due to distance, cost, or lack of facilities. BWB provides world-class, evidence-based training in vaginal breech birth, which can equip Sierra Leonean midwives with the technical skills to safely manage these deliveries.

BWB's expertise in simulation technology complements Hawa's Hope's existing training programs. This allows midwives to practice complex maneuvers in a risk-free environment, building the muscle memory necessary to act decisively during real-life emergencies.

Both organizations prioritize long-term impact. This partnership creates a sustainable cycle of knowledge, working towards training local educators to become experts in breech management.
